Therapy intensives — months of progress in a single day
Weekly therapy is great. But sometimes you need more than 50 minutes. Intensives give you a dedicated block of time to go deeper, move faster, and walk away with real momentum.

A therapy intensive is exactly what it sounds like: an extended, focused block of therapeutic work — typically 4.5 to 12 hours spread over one to three consecutive days — rather than traditional weekly sessions.
Instead of spending the first 15 minutes catching up and the last 10 wrapping up, you have uninterrupted time to get to what actually matters.
For couples in particular, intensives are transformative.
Why an intensive might be right for you
Life is busy
Taking one or two days off work is often far easier to manage than 12 weeks of weekly appointments. Intensives work especially well for parents, people with demanding jobs, or anyone who can't sustain a weekly schedule.
You're ready to move
Sometimes you know what you need — you just need the time to actually do the work. If you're motivated and ready for real change, an intensive creates the conditions for it.
Weekly therapy isn't cutting it
If you feel like you're making slow progress, or that sessions end just as you're getting somewhere — an intensive removes that ceiling.
You want to focus on one thing
Intensives work particularly well for specific, contained goals: rebuilding trust after infidelity, navigating a major decision, processing a loss, or doing a deep-dive on a particular pattern.
ADHD-friendly
Many neurodivergent clients find intensives easier than weekly therapy. You can hyperfocus, stay in the flow, and make the most of being fully engaged — rather than constantly re-establishing context.

The Numbers
A standard 50-minute session breaks down roughly like this:
- 10 minutes catching up
- 30 minutes of actual deep work
- 10 minutes wrapping up
That's 30 minutes of meaningful progress per week.
A single-day intensive gives you 4.5 hours of focused work — that's the equivalent of 9 standard sessions, without stopping and starting every time you're gaining momentum.

FAQs
Who are intensives for?
Couples and individuals. They work particularly well for couples doing relationship repair work, individuals navigating a significant transition or decision, and anyone who wants to make focused progress on a specific issue.
Do you offer virtual intensives?
Virtual options may be available depending on the format and goals. Ask during your consultation.
Is an intensive covered by insurance?
Many extended health plans cover sessions with a Registered Clinical Counsellor. Check with your provider — some plans have per-session maximums, so it's worth clarifying up front.
What if it's emotionally intense?
That's expected — and planned for. Intensives are structured with pacing, breaks, and integration time built in. You won't be pushed past your capacity.
Can I do a one-day intensive and continue with weekly sessions?
Absolutely. Many clients use an intensive as a catalyst, then continue with weekly or bi-weekly sessions to maintain momentum.
